Rehabilitation of rain hit infrastructure, roads initiated

QUETTA: The steps have been started for rehabilitation of the roads and other basic infrastructure damaged due to the heavy rains and flood water in and around Zhob district.
The rescue and relief teams are engaged in the repair and rehabilitation work in the area. Needless to mention here is that the Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch had taken an immediate notice of the damages caused due to the rains and flashflood in Zhob and its surrounding areas. The flashflood had also hit the Zhob-Mir Ali Khail road besides causing damages to some other basic infrastructure in the area.
On directives of the Chief Minister, the Secretary Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, Secretary Irrigation along with Chief Engineer Communication and Works, had reached the affected area to personally review the situation following the rain water and flood.
The Chief Minister had directed to the Commissioner Zhob Division and other concerned high ups to ensure provision of the relief items and edibles to the affected people. He had also directed to the district administration to be ready to cope with any emergent situation.
While on the other hand, the Chief Secretary, Saifullah Chattha is personally supervising the rehabilitation process continued in the rains affected areas.
Meanwhile, the National Highway Authority (NHA) high ups have been issued directives to immediately repair and rehabilitate the affected portion of the national highways in the affected areas.
However, the Balochistan Development Authority (BDA) has enabled the Zhob-Mir Ali Khail Road for movement of traffic on the same after carrying out necessary repair work.
While the Secretary PHE reviewed the losses caused to the Zhob water supply scheme at Saliaza and directed to the concerned to take steps for its rehabilitation, the Secretary Irrigation inspected the bandat affected due to the flashflood in the area. The work on their rehabilitation has been started on directives of the Secretary PHE, the official sources said.
The Commissioner Zhob Division, Deputy Commissioner along with the concerned officials visited the Zhob-Sambaza Road, Mir Ali Khail Road and other roads in the area. They also inspected the condition of roads and the repair work going on there.
