Churches of Pakistan appeals protesters to remain peaceful

ISLAMABAD Sept 23 (Online): Churches of Pakistan has appealed to the Christian community protesters to remain peaceful during staging protests against Peshawar Church blasts.
In a statement, it appealed the protesters not to be violent and refrain from burning and breaking things.
It also said that special prayers would be offered in all churches of the country for the souls of the people who died yesterday in Peshawar blasts.
Christians demonstrated in towns and cities around Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Faisalabad, to protest against the violence and demand better protection from the authorities.
In Islamabad more than 600 protesters blocked a major city highway for several hours during the Monday morning rush hour, causing long tailbacks.
In Karachi, there have been protests by the Christian community near Korangi crossing, Isa Nagri, Liaquatabad, Numaish Chowrangi and even outside Karachi Press Club.
Over 80 people were killed and 150 were injured in the twin suicide bombing that took place outside the All Saints church after Sunday mass came to an end. The bombing is believed to be the country’s deadliest attack on Christians.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incident.
