ISLAMABAD, Sept 24 (Online): PTI MNA Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has called for reviewing Blasphemy law, calling it against the norms of Islam.

Speaking in the National Assembly here on Tuesday, he said the current blasphemy law was generating more hatred.

Javed Hashmi said Peshawar incident had brought a bad name to the country.

He said all the religions preach peace and brotherhood and abhor violence but some elements are trying to create differences among different segments of the society.

He favored the idea of talks with the militants, adding that efforts should be made to bring them into the mainstream.

He regretted that security situation has deteriorated to the level that no worship places are safe today. He said all the religions preach peace and brotherhood and abhor violence but some elements are trying to create differences among different segments of the society.

He said that dialogue should be held with the Taliban in order to bring them into the mainstream.

Tariq Christopher Qaiser termed the Peshawar incident as a national tragedy. He said it was not an attack on Christians but on the sovereignty of Pakistan. Those attacking worship places like churches and mosques have nothing to do with humanity and are not serving the cause of Islam and Pakistan. He said Christians are patriotic Pakistanis and continue to play their role for the welfare of the country particularly in the health and education sectors. He also asked Christian community to remain peaceful during protest demonstrations and avoid ransacking and arson of public property.

Tariq Christopher Qaiser said about forty thousand people have lost their lives in terrorist attacks and now the government will have to go beyond condemnation to find solution of the menace.
