Journalist picked up by armed men, freed

QUETTA Nov 10 (PPI): Armed masked men picked up a senior journalist from his house in wee hours Tuesday and freed him after 10 hours.
Balochistan Union of Journalist staged a protest demonstration and took out a rally against the incident.
According to details armed masked men entered in house of Afzal Mughal Reporter Daily Mashriq and Online here at small hours today. They took him to unknown place and freed him after 10 hours.
Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) strongly protested over this alleged abduction of Afzal Mughal in front of Press Club.
Addressing journalists President BUJ Hamadullah Siapad termed this incident as extremely regretful. He said patriotism of journalists must not be doubted. If there is any negative impression of any journalist, journalistic organisations and bodies should be approached to resolve the matter in a better way. He said BUJ follows policy of resolving all the matters through talks and dialogues. We are neither involved in matters of any organisation or institution nor defend any wrong doing. He said we cannot accept without any allegation or crime use of force against any journalist, his harassment and spoiling sanctity of chadar and char deevari. He said there exist laws in the country about punishment but without proving crime prior to punishment picking up any one and mental torture him with is not justified.
BUJ President also asked journalists to keep their matters always on right track and do not take any step as becomes suspicious or criminal before eyes of others. We believe in impartial journalism only and we should not deviate from our professional obligations. We should also follow directives issued by our organization.
Later journalists took out a rally which marched on various city roads and terminated after returning to Press Club. Journalists shouted slogans in support of journalism and journalists.
