Pak-US ink MoU “Revision 76†worth $23.5 mln

ISLAMABAD, September 25 (Online): Pakistan and United States have signed the Revision 76 to the tune of US$ 23.5 million for various projects.
Secretary, Economic Affairs Division Nargis Sethi and US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson signed the Revision 76 on behalf of Pakistan and USA respectively here on Wednesday.
Under the Agreement / Revision 76, the allocation of US$ 23.5 million for various projects included:- Law Enforcement Reforms and Capacity Building (US$ 15.5 million), Rule of Law (US$ 2 million), Crop Control and Area Development (US$ 3 million) and Demand Reduction (US$ 3 million).
Pakistan and US have signed 75 Revision to date wherein a total of US$ 700 has been provided to Interior Division, Narcotics Affairs Division, Law & Justice Division for training, equipment and infrastructure support to Police Departments of Punjab, Sind, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Moreover, funds have been provided to support female officials working within police organizations and for schemes addressing inefficiencies in training of capacity building of officers and improving administration of provincial prisons system, modernizing prison management philosophies and to promote adoption of humane detention and care of growing number of prisoners.
Thanking the Ambassador for the assistance, the Secretary EAD said that US has great contributions in the overall progress and development in different sectors in Pakistan.
She thanked the Ambassador on behalf of government of Pakistan.
Olson while reiterating the US government’s commitment to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan expressed the confidence that the existing multi-dimensional partnership will further improve for greater benefit of the two countries.
