Criminology students visit SSU

Karachi: The students of Karachi University said that they are proud to witness the high quality management system and professionalism existed in the Special Security Unit with regard to counter terrorism in the country.
This was observed by 70 M.A. previous students of Department of Criminology
Security Unit Headquarter here Saturday.
AIGP Security Special Security Unit Sindh Police Maqsood Ahmed briefed the students about the different sections of the SSU and the advanced professional training of international standard provided to commandos including lady commandos of SSU. The Pakistan Army is also providing professional training in different fields to further enhance the professional techniques of commandos, he added.
Maqsood Ahmed informed the students and faculty members that the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T), first ever in the country, has also been setup which comprises highly trained commandos equipped with modern weapons and they were capable to challenge any emergency situation if created by terrorists and hardened criminals.
AIGP Security informed that a decision has been made to establish Counter Terrorism University of international standard under Security Vision 2020 to facilitate students to study and research new trends of terrorism/modus operandi of terrorists and also the new methods to effectively counter the terrorism. University will also provide an opportunity to students for acquiring the knowledge about the day to day development being practiced and modern policing across the world, he added.
He further informed that the United Kingdom Accreditation System (UKAS) Britain have issued ISO certificate to Special Security Unit, first ever in the country, for maintaining international standard in the field of Counter Terrorism Operations and Provision of Foolproof Security to Important Personalities and Vital Installations.
Maqsood Ahmed further said that the quality management and the scope of professionalism are aimed at effectively curbing the menace of terrorism prevailing in the country.
During the visit, the students and faculty members have expressed that they are proud of professional standard of the officers and commandos of SSU with regards to security provision to common men and foiling the nefarious designs of the anti-social elements and the terrorists.
