SSGC expedites drive for recovery of gas arrears of Rs. 1.4b

QUETTA: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has expedited the campaign for recovery of the gas utility dues and arrears in Quetta and different other parts of the province.
According to the sources of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the notices are being issued to the defaulting domestic as well as commercial consumers and government departments over non-payment of the dues.
The sources said that the arrears of around 1.4 billion rupees are outstanding against the gas defaulters in the province.
They are included 60 percent domestic and commercial consumers and 40 percent government departments, the sources confided.
The SSGC has decided to take action against the defaulters. In this regard, it has been decided to suspend the gas supply to the defaulters until and unless they pay the dues, the sources maintained.
According to the sources, there are around Rs. 200 million outstanding against different government departments on account of the gas utility bills.
While on the other hand, there are around Rs. 500 million dues payable against the domestic and commercial consumers in the province.
Similarly, the consumers of the interior parts of the province also have to pay over Rs. 700 million to the Gas Company, the sources maintained.
For instance, there are dues of Rs. 220 million against the consumers of Kalat, Rs. 200 million against the consumers of Pishin, Rs. 210 million against Dera Murad Jamali and Rs. 50 million against the consumers of Sibi.
Meanwhile, the Incharge of SSGC’s Recovery, Nawabzada Ismail Jogezai has asked all the defaulting consumers to pay the gas utility bills and dues. Otherwise, their connections would be disconnected, he warned.
