Resolve of eradicating polio virus from Balochistan

QUETTA Apr 18 (PPI): Commissioner Quetta Division Qamber Dashti and Head of Polio Emergency Centre Balochistan Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman have reiterated their resolve of eradicating polio virus from Balochistan, directing the authorities concerned to effectively conduct the immunization campaign at high risk areas.
Speaking to a meeting at Commissioner Quetta Division Office, they stressed the need to making the campaign all the more effective that is to be carried out during the current month in the high risk area which includes Killa Abdullah. They said that no inefficiency would be tolerated on the part of district administration, health department and other allied government agencies as the eradication of this disease is the top-most priority of the government now.
They said that it was for the first time that during the previous month, the set benchmark was achieved 94 per cent in district Quetta and its credit goes to the district administration, district health officers and other concerned, adding that an award in appreciation was also given to the Deputy Commissioner Quetta by Chief Secretary Balochistan. They said that micro planning, micro census have been initiated to improve the quality of the immunization campaign and to prevent the spread of the virus. They said that directives have been issued to the district officers of all the districts for the success of the campaign which include the formation of the teams, their performance and their reach to the concerned areas. They said that the immunization campaign would be launched from 25th of April in 13 districts of the province in which Quetta block’s Pishin, Killah Abdullah and Quetta are included.
Commissioner Quetta Qamber Dashti said that steps have to be taken on war footings for the eradication of the diseases and stressed upon the need of improvement of the performance of district administration, health department and others concerned. Commissioner Quetta said that in case of any issue with regard to campaign, he should be informed on his personal phone number, he would monitor the pre-campaign and post campaign scenario personally.
DrSaifur Rehman said that the nomads and the people working in farms, brick kilns undertake seasonal area shifts and to control the situation, vaccination and campaign on the fixed points has to be improved. He said that during the last five campaigns, the results have improved in Quetta, Killa Abdullah and Pishin. He, however, stressed the effective continuity of the campaign in order not to let the achievements go waste.
