Declaration of Seminar on Forest and Wild life

QUETTA Apr 22 (PPI): A seminar on Forest and wildlife held here under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri adopted following declaration:
1. General awareness of masses on importance/ conservation of Forest & Wildlife is very less for which electronic/ print media should play its role. Awareness workshops, seminars and newsletters be frequently held/ published.
2. Illegal hunting and netting should be dealt severely under the existing laws.
FC Balochistan should also be requested to support.
3. For promotion of Tourism, construction of 2-3 Game Huts in Takkatu Mountain may be approved.
4. Inadequate staff for protection of F&WL throughout Balochistan, which needs to be increased and done on merit. Locals be appointed for respective protected areas.
5. Encroachment of forest department land should be discouraged by adopting proactive strategy.
6. For conservation of Wildlife, community organizations like TakkaTuTanzim be encouraged/ promoted and appointments specifically be given to locals of those areas.
7. Government of Balochistan Hunting Club should work in collaboration with F&WL Departments which can contribute positively towards conservation of wildlife. In this regard, govt may encourage a local volunteer to do the needful.
8. Habitats should be preserved and shrinking/ isolation of larger habitats resulting into isolation of gene pool should be deliberated by F&WL Department. Connectivity of Suleman Range through Loralai, Ziarat and Zarghoon-Takatu be ensured.
9. Reforestation drive should be encouraged through different communities and concerned departments for conservation of Forests/ Wildlife. Murdaar Mountain should be taken up for reforestation as well. Illegal forest cutting be strictly checked.
