RAWALPINDI, Sept 27 (INP): As a pre-emptive measure against the spread of Dengue, Congo virus and other fatal diseases, the Punjab government has decided to establish sacrificial animal markets outside cities ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

In Rawalpindi district, sacrificial animal markets will be established in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Mandra, Gujar Khan, Kalar Syedan, Kahuta and Kotli Satian. These markets will be tax free.

The government has issued directives to make all necessary precautionary measures including spraying antiseptics in the animal markets and limit the market within the specified boundaries outside cities. The district administrations have been directed to make the markets functional till October 01.

The district administrations have also been directed to prepare maps and designs of the sacrificial animal markets and establish separate blocks for the sale and purchase of goats, bulls, sheep, buffaloes and camels. They have also been directed to ensure provision of ramps to demount animals from vehicles, generators, lights, tents, water, parking places, police posts, canteens and medical facilities in the markets.
