Govt has no plan to abolish CNG sector: Barjees

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Barjees Tahir informed the House on Friday that the government had no plan to abolish the CNG industry.
Responding to a question, he said in fact the government was making
all out efforts to mitigate the shortage of gas through enhanced
exploration activities and provision of incentives to investors under petroleum policy.
"The government is working to explore oil and gas from the sea as
well", the minister said, adding, three wells of gas had already been explored.
Moreover, efforts were also being made to import gas under
transnational pipeline and LNG projects, he said.
Barjees said gas distribution to the provinces was being carried out under the policy set by the then petroleum ministry in January 2013.
He said four-day CNG closure was been observed in Punjab where no
gas was being given to industries while on the other hand three-day
closure was happening in Sindh.
Responding to another question the minister said there were total 3547
CNG stations in the country, of which, four were located in AJK, 22
in Balochistan, 590 in KPK, 2191 in Punjab, 618 in Sindh and 122
in Islamabad.
The minister while replying another question regarding increase in petroleum products' prices said the domestic petroleum prices were linked
to the international prices of crude oil which had increased from 100
dollar to 111 dollar since the government came into power.
Once the prices in the international market would come down the government would try to reduce the prices of these products accordingly
