PAT made functional by appointing its chairman; SC informed

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): The Supreme Court on Friday was informed that
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been made functional by appointing its Acting Chairman and the members of its body.
This was informed by Imran ul Haq, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) to a
three-judge bench headed by chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chuahdry while the proceeding of the case regarding biding of 3-G license.
He further insured the bench that bidding of 3-G license would also be
announces soon and transparency would be kept in mind while awarding the license.
DAG informed the bench that member technical, Syed Ismail Shah would
also hold the office of Acting Chairman PTA; in addition Tariq Sultan and Justice (r) Raza Khan would be the members of the board.
Meanwhile, counsel for the companies raised some objections against the
appointment which was rejected by the apex court.
The Chief justice observed that let the department work despite of
raising baseless objections, and showed hope that bidding would be transparent.
