ISLAMABAD, Sept 27 (APP): The Supreme Court on Friday sought
reply within three days from the federation and Capital Development Authority (CDA) regarding the proposed construction of Margallah Tunnel
in Islamabad.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar
Muhammad Chaudhry also issued notices to Chief Secretaries of the Punjab
and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) in a suo-moto action regarding proposed construction of Margallah
Tunnel.
Mushahid Hussain Syed appeared before the bench and apprised that the
proposed project would ruin the beauty of the federal capital.
He further informed the bench that instead of being under the
consideration of CDA, this project was handed over to the NHA.
Meanwhile, Rodad Khan Chairman Margallah Society apprised the bench
that paper work regarding the project continuing expeditiously and NHA started it's work for testing the land, he added.
Chief justice remarked "let the federation reply came out then the
picture would be cleared before us" and adjourn the further hearing of the case till October 1.
The suo moto action has been taken on the statement of Mushahid Hussain
Syed, leader of Pakistan Muslim league (Q) published in a newspaper.
