NHA directed to identify all damaged roads: NA Told

ISLAMABAD,Sep 27(APP):State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh
Aftab Ahmad on Friday informed the National Assembly (NA) that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to conduct a survey to identify all those roads in the country requiring repair work.
Responding to a question,he said rains and floods in past few years had damaged a number of roads and bridges in the country that were being repaired.
The minister said 82 per cent construction work of bridge on river Chanab at Shorkot to Garh Maharaja was accomplished and the project was expected to complete by March 2014.
He said the project was started in June 2010 and was due to be completed in two years,however,floods in subsequent years together with funds problem caused delay in the project.
Work on approach roads,guide banks,protection bunds and J-spurs was also in progress,adding,the bridge would hopefully be opened for traffic in December this year, the minister added.
