Hamid said during examination of bottled water in the period from April to June this year, as many as 86 brands were tested, of which, 59 were declared safe while 27 unsafe.
Show cause notices would be issued soon to the faulted bottled water brands as the government was seriously working on the issue, he added.
"Based on the technical assessment survey of water supply schemes, recommendations with workable solutions have been provided to the respective departments to take remedial action," he added.
The minister said it was for the first time that the federal government was also taking up the issue as it was a subject of the provincial governments
