PESHAWAR: At least 31 people were killed and more than 70 injured in a blast near Khan Raziq police station in Qissa Khawani bazaar of Peshawar, Geo News reported.
Rescue sources have confirmed that more than 40 people including children were wounded and have been shifted to Leady Reading Hospital.
Hospital sources said 29 people have been killed in the attack. Emergency has been declared in the LRH.
Several vehicles and adjacent buildings were damaged.
A police official who also confirmed the blast, said it took place immediately after a car stopped in the market.
The blast occurred a week after a twin suicide blasts at a Church killed more than 80 people.
AP adds: Police officer Zahid Khan said the Sunday explosion appeared to have been a bomb planted in a parked car and detonated by remote control.
Jamil Shah, spokesman for the Lady Reading Hospital, says 29 dead including six children and two women as well as 70 wounded have been brought to the hospital from the blast site.
Khan said the police station was some 300 meters (yards) from All Saints Church, targeted by two suicide bombers last weekend in an attack that killed 85 people.
