No death due to dengue in Punjab in current year, says Official

LAHORE, Sep 30 (Online): A spokesman of Health Department Punjab has said that no death has been occurred in Punjab during the current year.
Regarding the death of a patient Ijaz Ahmed, of Ravi Road, reportedly due to dengue at Mayo Hospital the other day, the spokesman contradicted that he died due to dengue and said that the doctors had diagnosed him as a patient of Chronic Liver Disease (CLD).
The spokesman further said that Ijaz Ahmed S/o Rasheed, was brought to Emergency Department of Mayo Hospital on September 26, at 9.15 am.
He was given treatment in ICU of emergency deptt for Upper Gastroenteritis Track (GIT) Bleeding, Gastroenteritis and Hypovolemic Shock and was late shifted to East Medical Ward where the patient was diagnosed as an old patient of pre-existing liver disease.
The spokesman further said that in spite of all emergency measures the patient expired at 7.00pm on the same day due to Hypovolemic Shock leading to cardio respiratory arrest.
Meanwhile, on the direction of Secretary Health Punjab, Deputy District Officer Health Ravi Town Lahore Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz visited the residence of deceased Ijaz Ahmed in Qila Lachaman Singh, Ravi Road and conducted investigation regarding the illness of late Ijaz Ahmed.
After obtaining detailed information from the family of deceased, the visiting officer has
also confirmed that Ijaz Ahmed did not die of dengue, the spokesman concluded.
