PIMA starts medical relief activities in earthquake hit-areas

Islamabad, Sept 30 (Online): Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) started medical relief activities in Awaran, the worst earthquake affected district of Baluchistan.
Four doctors visited Awaran, conducted a mobile clinic and donated medicine to a local NGO on Monday. Central General Secretary Prof Sohail Akhtar led the team.
On his return, he said in a statement that our visit basically for need assessment and possibilities for medical relief work. DHQ Awaran has rudimentary services, not able to cope serious victims, so dealing with minor cases only and sending others in Ambulances to Karachi.
He said that we conducted a medical camp in a village nearby and examined injured patients, none with fractures, but pain or depression from the impact. Medicines also donated to a local NGO (PPHI) on their request.
Prof Sohail said that due to difficult access, law and order situation, we decided to send doctors and medical students teams from Quetta to conduct mobile clinic in the affected area.
Meanwhile PIMA and a local private hospital at Hub (entrance to Karachi) signed a MoU for catering for victims. Dozens of Trauma injuries patients admitted from 28 to 30th September.
